TEM support grids
Labtech TEM support grids are of high quality metal and designed and manufactured in the UK by Graticules Optics. These sturdy and stable TEM grids are available in standard 3.05mm diameter and in a variety of metals to suit a wide range of TEM applications in life sciences and material sciences. For each TEM grid type the thumbnail images in each section are colour coded to assist with selection of metal: copper, copper with rhodium, nickel, gold, molybdenum, stainless steel, aluminium and titanium.
Labtech TEM grids are manufactured by one of two processes:
- Copper, copper/rhodium, nickel and gold TEM grids are manufactured using an electro forming process that produces well-defined features and consistent quality with an average thickness of 25µm.
- Molybdenum, aluminium, titanium and stainless steel TEM grids are manufactured from thin foils using an electro etching process that produces support grids with a thickness of 25µm (titanium is 15µm and stainless steel is 12µm).
All Labtech TEM grids are inspected for 100% quality assurance. After manufacturing grids undergo a proprietary cleaning process to reduce contamination. The thickness of Labtech grids is optimised to give a rigid and stable TEM grid for specimen support and specimen support films. The wide rim (375µm) contributes to greater stiffness making handling and transportation of the TEM grids much easier than for those with a narrower rim.
Labtech TEM support grids are packaged in anti-static plastic vials of 100 TEM grids for Cu, Cu/Rh and Ni. Labtech TEM rids made from Au, Mo, Al, Ti and stainless steel are packaged in vials of 25 grids.
