DiATOME diamond knives
Since 1970 DiATOME has built an unsurpassed reputation for high quality diamond knives for ultramicrotomy and histological applications. Labtech is pleased to offer the complete range of DiATOME knives and resharpening services to our customers in the UK and Ireland.
Additionally, a resharpening and exchange service is provided for all DiATOME knives of all ages. Each knife is returned to you with the same high quality as a new knife.
It is always best practice to clean your DiATOME diamond knife immediately after use and before storing it away. For guidance on cleaning DiATOME ultra, cryo and histo diamond knives see the tips and tricks on our diamond knife cleaning page.
The DiATOME range of diamond knives:
ultra 45
For use at ambient temperatures and available in 1.5-4.0mm edge lengths and fitted with a boat for sectioning onto water.
ultra 35
For use at ambient temperatures and available in 1.5-4.0mm edge lengths and fitted with a boat for sectioning onto water.
ultra sonic
An oscillating knife gives compression-free ultrathin sections at ambient temperatures - especially useful for softer materials.
cryo
Available in 1.5-4.0mm edge lengths and three knife angles - with or without a boat. They offer proven performance for challenging applications at low temperatures, such as sectioning frozen hydrated specimens.
histo
A long cutting edge (4.0-8.0mm) produces sections of the highest quality for light microscopy applications in life sciences and material sciences. The histo Jumbo with its large boat is particularly well suited for serial sectioning.
trim
Especially designed for trimming block sides and faces prior to final sectioning, reducing wear and tear on your ultra or cryo diamond knives.
resharpening service
DiATOME diamond knives of all types and age can be resharpened multiple times.
exchange scheme
The DiATOME diamond knife exchange scheme enables you to acquire a different type of diamond knife at a fraction of the cost of buying it new.
